Academic Advising Council
The Academic Advising Council serves as the advisory group for academic advising and reports to the Office of the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor regarding all matters related to its charge. Members will discuss and promote the resolution of issues and challenges that affect students and advisors. Members will work to create a seamless advising experience for all students that will result in increased student satisfaction, retention and graduation rates.
Duties:
- Work in cooperation with the College Deans and Enrollment Management to ensure the effectiveness of advising processes
- Develop and implement the advising and registration processes
- Provide a forum for the exchange of information and recommendations
- Develop and administer training for the professional advisors, advising coordinators, and faculty advisors
- Provide input for the New Student Orientation process
- Develop an assessment process for advising
- Promote professional development through state, regional and national NACADA events
- Future-determine and administer recognition and awards for outstanding academic advising
