Box City is a fundraising event for the Next Step Homeless Services and the Esther House which supports homeless women and homeless women with children. This event is also meant to raise awareness of homelessness and hunger. During the Box City event, our students will sleep outside overnight on the Campus Green in a cardboard box in a homeless simulation. While we are trying to simulate an evening as a homeless individual, we are also trying to educate our students about the issues facing the homeless in our community. We accomplish this goal by showing the students movies and having guest speakers who have been personally impacted by homelessness. Box City is free to current students thanks to the generosity of our faculty, staff and administration. The recommended donation is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Students will need to register in advance with the Student Activities Office.
Location: Campus Green at 5:00 P.M. with registration and setup.
The event concludes early the following morning following breakfast at 7:00 A.M.
