Keeping Your Financial Aid
Maintaining your financial aid is just as important as getting the aid in the first place. You should find the following tips helpful as you pursue your educational endeavors.
- Review the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy(PDF) if you are receiving federal student aid, including Stafford loans.
- Know and review the renewal requirements for your scholarships. Almost every scholarship has a requirement for a minimum GPA and a requirement that you complete a minimum number of hours.
- Think before you drop. If you are considering dropping a class please ask us about the potential consquences.
- Most financial aid is only good for a set number of terms. For example, most scholarships are 8 semesters and Pell Grants are limited to 12 full-time equivalent semesters. It is important to finish your education while you have funding available.
Return of Title IV Funds
The return of Title IV funds is administered by The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith (UAFS) Financial Aid Office. This policy applies to students who withdraw (officially, unofficially) or are dismissed from enrollment at UAFS. It is separate and distinct from the UAFS Refund Policy; (see Refund of Tuition under Tuition and Fees in the University General Catalog). Therefore, the student may still owe funds to the school to cover unpaid institutional charges.
