The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith

Excellence in Education Scholarship Program

The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith has greatly expanded its scholarship program to ensure that more students have the opportunity to attend the university and ultimately reach that next big step in their lives, whether that is a prestigious graduate school or a meaningful career.

An education from UAFS is already a financial value, but the university has increased the number and financial value of scholarships to help more students conquer the cost of a college education.  New scholarships include:

  • UAFS Diamond Scholars, which will be awarded to one student from each of Arkansas’ 75 counties.
  • Academic Opportunity Scholarships, which will be awarded to students with a 19 to 21 composite ACT score and who demonstrate financial need.
  • International Achievement Scholarships for non-U.S. citizens.
  • Transfer Achievement Scholarships for transfer students.
  • Non-Traditional Student Achievement Scholarships for students 25 years old and older who desire to begin their college education.

To find out more about financial aid options available, visit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) website. Filling out the FAFSA allows you to be considered for the Federal PELL Grant, Stafford Loans, work-study positions, and additional scholarships.  Completion of the FAFSA is strongly encouraged.

Important New Student Scholarship Information

UAFS scholarship recipients must meet all university admissions requirements and are required to maintain full-time student status while receiving any of the scholarships listed here.

Equivalent SAT scores will be considered in place of the ACT score.

UAFS does not accept “Super Scores” or recalculated ACT scores using subset scores from multiple exams for scholarship purposes.  Students must score at least 19 (or equivalent SAT score) in each subset section (scores can be taken from multiple exams for this purpose) to be eligible for scholarships.
