What to Give

Virtually anything you choose to give—from plain old cash, to stocks and bonds, to real property, to life insurance and IRA benefits—can make a genuine and lasting impact at UAFS. Please call us at (479) 788-7020 for further details; we are here to help you support the University in the way that's best for you.

Cash and Cash Equivalents

The simplest gift to the UAFS Foundation is cash, usually in the form of a check or credit card authorization. Cash gifts may range from $25 or $50 to $1 million or more, and may be given as outright and unrestricted gifts, directed to a specific area of your choosing (scholarships, faculty support, or a particular department, for example), or used to fund an endowment. Cash may be given in a single lump sum or in the form of a pledge to be paid over a period of years—usually five or less. Cash gifts typically entitle you to an immediate charitable deduction against federal income tax.

Securities

Gifts of appreciated securities like stocks and bonds are another option. Gifts of securities are liquidated by the Foundation as soon as feasible. When you give securities you have held for more than a year, you can typically realize an income tax deduction for the current market value of the assets as well as avoid the capital gains tax you would pay if you sold the assets outright. Consult your financial advisor for more information.

Real Property

Like gifts of securities, gifts of real property—land and buildings—are typically liquidated by the Foundation, and the proceeds are used as you wish them to be.

Gifts In-kind

Gifts in-kind are gifts of tangible personal property intended to be used by the University in the form in which they are given—instead of liquidated. Typical gifts in-kind are art works, books, automobiles, and instructional equipment.

Other Types of Gifts

Planned gifts can take many forms—wills, bequests, annuities, trusts, life insurance benefits, IRA benefits, and remainder interests in real property. Visit the Planned Giving area of our site or call (479) 788-7020 to learn more.
