South Korea

2013 University of Ulsan Summer International Program

Ulsan International Program (UIP) is an international summer program designed for foreign students who want to learn Korean culture, history, society, business as well as Korean language. The program consists of a broad range of classes and excursions.  Participants visit a wide variety of historical and cultural sites around Ulsan and other cities in Korea.  The program includes field trips to industrial complexes as well.
 
UIP equips students with a broad understanding of other cultures.  It helps participants respect and accept people with unfamiliar backgrounds. Since participants come from all over the world, students share a wide range of cultural interests, backgrounds and traditions.
 
1)  Program Dates:  July 2, 2013 - July 26, 2013
 * Arrival: June 30 - July 1, 2013 / Departure: July 27-28, 2013
 
2)  Cost:  
A.  Tuition + Housing (waived):   (=$2000)
B. Airfare from your hometown to Ulsan (between $1500 and $2000)
C. Personal expenses (=around $500)
D. Registration fee:  $150
E. Mandatory insurance fee: $100
F. Tuition/Fee for UAFS OSS Course (3 credits)

4)  Requirements 
A. Student must have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours prior to departure. 
B. Student must have a minimum cumulative UA Fort Smith grade point average of 2.5 or above. 
C. Student must be in good standing at the time of application.
 
5)  Required Documents
      (All of these five documents must be submitted before/on April 12, 2013)
A. Application form (Application must be typed.  Handwritten applications will not be accepted).  The application form is available at http://www.ulsan.ac.kr/eng/international/uip.aspx
B. Personal statement (freestyle/no more than one page) on what you expect to learn from this program and other relevant information that should be considered with your application.
C. Official transcript (available in Records Office in Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center)
D. Copy of passport ID page
E. Passport-size photo (1)
 
6)  Selection Process
      A selection committee will evaluate your application, personal statement, and academic performance at UAFS.  It is very important to provide a good personal statement. Selection result will be sent between April 17 and 19, 2013.
