The UAFS Office of Marketing and Communications employs one full-time photographer[*] whose primary role is to produce high-quality photographic images that serve university marketing efforts. A student photographer may be assigned to photograph events the full-time photographer is unable to attend and to assist the university photographer on large-scale assignments.
The university photographer also oversees all photographic content intended for use on the university website. If a school or group wishes to use new photos on their individual webpage, the university photographer and the Marketing and Communications web administrator must approve the photos for quality and copyright.
Top priority will be placed on capturing photographic images that can be used for marketing purposes in support of the university’s brand, identity and message.
The university photographer may provide limited photo coverage of banquets, awards presentations or general departmental events if those images can be used to market the institution.
If we are unable to meet your photographic needs, the university photographer may be able to train your personnel to use digital cameras to capture quality images. Contact the university photographer to schedule training or discuss other options.
What We Photograph
- University Marketing Materials – Images that the Marketing and Communications office deems necessary for use to help advance and promote the institution externally.
- Media and News Materials – Images that will be used for substantial news releases and media services.
- Portraits – Professional headshots for use on departmental websites as well as professional publications. Portraits will be photographed in the studio, Fullerton Administration Room 219. Light retouching is available for all portraits.
All photography requests must be submitted 10 days in advance for full consideration by the marketing office. Requests must be made via the Service Now Photo Request Form. A photographer will evaluate the request and respond via ServiceNow with any questions or concerns.

After the assignment has been completed, the photographer will edit the photographs and present the best images for selection on the university’s Zenfolio site.
Photographs will be provided after a minimum of 10 business days. If photographs are needed sooner than 10 business days from the date of the event, please email the marketing department and request a rush turnaround.
Rush requests will be fufilled as soon as possible, but are dependent on the schedule of approved events.
Images from the UAFS photo collection are approved for use by staff, faculty, students and alumni for university purposes only.
All photographs must be properly captioned and credited where appropriate.
Clients may not distribute, sell or share any images produced by this office without prior consent.
All images created by Marketing and Communications are stored on the university’s online photography archive, Zenfolio.
The archive is for internal purposes only and should not be shared externally. The archive is not intended to function as a social sharing mechanism.
Media Image Use Policy
Media requests for photos require the approval of the Office of Marketing and Communications and the Office of Public Information before images are released. All photos must be properly captioned and credited where appropriate. Images may be requested through ServiceNow or by contacting the university photographer.
