The Center for Lifelong Learning at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith has announced its classes with a January or February start date or registration deadline.

Offerings include a variety of lectures, short-term classes and tours to fill a wide range of interests, with the first of 26 courses beginning Jan. 24. Several new ideas that were suggested by a recent survey have been incorporated into the center schedule.

"We have scheduled more classes during daytime hours," said CLL director Jeff Adams of Fort Smith, "And our short Lifelong Learning Lecture Series becomes an even better value, $15 for 10 lectures."

Topics of interest cover arts and crafts, computers, financial management, English enrichment, health and fitness, humanities, language/global discovery, lifestyles, photography and more.

Classes and lectures are:

Jan. 24-March 14: "ASL (American Sign Language) I," 6-8 p.m. Thursdays, $109. Fee includes textbook.

Jan. 26: "Cooking: Super Bowl Sunday," 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, $45.

Feb. 2-9: "Scrapbooking - The Digital Way," 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays, $39.

Feb. 4-March 11: "Aikido I," 6-7:30 p.m. Mondays, $49. Or take all 12 sessions, Feb. 4-April 29, for a discounted fee of $75.

Feb. 4-March 11: "Digital Photography I: Learn the Basics of SLR Photography," 6-8 p.m. Mondays, $85. SLR camera required.

Feb. 5-March12: "Knitting for Beginners," 6-7 p.m. Mondays, $35.

Feb. 5-26: "Computer Basics," 10 a.m.-noon Tuesdays, $55 or couples pricing $40.

Feb. 6-March 13: "Line Dancing I," 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, $35. All levels of fitness welcome.

Feb. 7-28: "Discover Italy," 6-8 p.m. Thursdays, $50 or couples pricing $45.

Feb. 9: "Belly Dancing - Workshop," 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, $39.

Feb. 14: Registration deadline for the Feb. 28 "Cherokee Heritage Center" trip, $79. Fee includes lunch.
