When Colton Lee was laid off in early 2015 from his job in the oilfield, he reconsidered what he wanted to do with his life. He wanted a job that would provide him a livable wage and good benefits. Since his father had been a truck driver, he decided to enroll in the Commercial Driver Development Program at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith.
Automotive students receiving a technical certificate from Northwest Technical Institute in Springdale will now be able to pursue an associate degree from the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith thanks to a partnership forged between the two schools.
Thirty-five University of Arkansas – Fort Smith students were matched with a community leader or business executive and UAFS young alumni for the third year of the UAFS Alumni Association’s Mentors Connections program.
For the second consecutive year, the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will host the state’s Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival on its campus Oct. 27-30, featuring five colleges and universities competing for a slew of awards.
