Earlier this month, representatives from local and statewide organizations gathered on the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith campus to study a technology that is poised for exponential growth in the next five years.
University of Arkansas – Fort Smith student Talia Blanton chose to attend UAFS because of the numerous opportunities in the university’s graphic design program, but Blanton hadn’t expected one of those opportunities would include designing a logo for a regional athletic conference.

When Skyler Webster of Poteau, Okla., applied for the prestigious Chancellor’s Leadership Council Scholarship at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, she didn’t think she would receive the scholarship. Since she suffered from test anxiety, her ACT score was below the recommended score to receive the scholarship. But the CLC scholarship took more into consideration than just test scores. After two rounds of interviews with Dr. Paul B. Beran, UAFS chancellor, and other administrators, Webster was chosen to receive the scholarship, which has led to a wealth of involvement opportunities for Webster at UAFS.

 

Leasure to Speak at UAFS Student Research Symposium
A University of Arkansas – Fort Smith alumnus and postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Georgia will serve as the guest speaker for the university’s Student Research Symposium to be held from 1-4:30 p.m. April 14 on the UAFS campus.
UAFS Blood Drive Offers Chance to Help Those in Need
A blood drive will be held at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. April 5-6 in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, giving the campus community and local residents the chance to save a life just like a UAFS student recently did.
“Unstilllife” Exhibit to be Displayed at UAFS from April 3-May 31
An exhibition featuring “un” still-life paintings will be on display from April 3-May 31 at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, with a reception slated for April 6.  
WRI Garden to be Discussed at April 20 Meeting at UAFS
Dr. Emily Beahm, the station archeologist at the Arkansas Archeological Survey’s Winthrop Rockefeller Institute Research Station, will present on a garden initiative the WRI is currently undertaking at a presentation at 7 p.m. April 20 as part of the monthly Ark-Homa chapter meeting held at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith.
UAFS to Host African Night April 7
The African Students Association at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will host its fifth annual African Night at 6 p.m. April 7 in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center.
