CLL Hosts Business Workshop Oct. 4(Posted: September 2, 2014)
The Center for Lifelong Learning at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith will host a workshop for small, home-based businesses and micro-businesses in the River Valley area Oct. 4 in the Latture Conference Center.
The workshop will run from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and cover topics including creating a business plan, marketing and financing a business, choosing a business structure and taxes and record keeping.
Speakers will present from local companies including First National Bank, KFSM and Przybysz and Associates. Michelle Cernak, owner of Westark Plumbing, will also give a presentation at lunch discussing the foundation of a successful and unique small business.
"This workshop will allow people to meet with other business owners while hearing from local experts in the field of taxation, finance, marketing and governance," said CLL Director Jeff Adams. "Over half of small businesses are home-based, and half of those survive past five years, so we believe this information is part of increasing that survival rate through a good foundation of knowledge."
The Latture Conference Center is located in the Business and Industrial Institute on UAFS campus. The registration deadline for the workshop is Sept. 26, and the fee is $65, which includes lunch. To register or find out more information, call 479-788-7220 or visit www.uafs.edu/cll/workshops.
