Annual Security Report
The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act ("Clery Act") is a federal statute that requires all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information about crime on and near their respective campuses. This information can be found below.
This information is updated annually by using information provided by the University Police Department and the Fort Smith Police Department. The University Police Department also keeps a Daily Crime Log viewable to the public at the University Police Department. The Daily Crime Log is a list of all crimes reported to the University Police Department within the last 60 days. Information prior to 60 days can also be viewed, but may not be readily accessible.
Among other requirements, the Clery Act states that all colleges and universities must give a timely warning to staff, faculty, and students concerning any crimes that pose an ongoing threat to the campus community. You can help the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith notify you during any such instance by signing up to the LionsAlert text message service. When you register for LionsAlert, you will receive free, timely alerts directly to your cellular phone, pager, personal digital assistant (PDA), or e-mail capable computer. You will not only be notified of emergency information. You will also receive information concerning campus closings due to severe weather.
