The University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee was created by Chancellor Terisa Riley in the fall of 2019, to review, unify, and strengthen UAFS's diversity and inclusion efforts. Its volunteer membership is comprised of faculty, staff, students, and members of the Fort Smith community who are engaged in or passionate about diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Committee members have opportunities to plan and implement cultural sensitivity and heritage programs, review campus policies and practices to ensure that they are inclusive for all UAFS students, faculty, and staff, and serve as resources and advocates for the university's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
The committee is playing a crucial role in hiring the university's first executive director for the newly formed Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
