The Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) will create and sustain a collaborative community and campus culture that understands, appreciates, and actualizes diversity, equity, and inclusion as a fundamental practice for the University’s mission.
The Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) will advance the University of Arkansas Fort Smith’s diversity efforts through access, engagement, partnership, and transformational experiences that foster belonging.
The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) supports the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith’s efforts to create and sustain a safe, open, and welcoming campus community where all members feel a sense of connection and belonging. This will be achieved through continuous efforts to reach and foster understanding and appreciation of different cultures and ways of life that are shared by diverse groups of people through best practices, policies, and programming.
Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
John W. Blue joined the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith as the inaugural executive director of diversity, equity, and inclusion in January 2021. Prior to joining UAFS, he served as the director of student life and multicultural affairs at the University of Tennessee at Martin. His 16-year career has led him to live and work in Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and now Arkansas. His professional career has focused on retention, success, student activities, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. He is currently completing coursework on a doctoral degree in higher education administration at the University of Mississippi.
