The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Lions Bookstore will participate in Arkansas’ tax-free weekend Aug. 6-7, offering local residents a chance to purchase items exempt from the state sales tax of 9.75 percent.

Textbooks, certain school supplies, art supplies, instructional materials and any clothing less than $100 will be free of local and state taxes. Amy Baker, Bookstore Manager, said the first 25 students to shop at the bookstore each day with a UAFS ID will receive a free goodie bag.

“The Tax-Free Holiday weekend is an excellent opportunity for students, faculty, parents and alumni to appreciate significant savings on their back-to-school supplies,” Baker said. “We also want the UAFS community to know that the tax-free weekend applies to all eligible items on online orders that are made during the time period.”
