The awards ceremony for the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program will take place at 6 p.m. Dec. 14 in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, with Dr. Jennifer Thomas serving as the keynote speaker.
Jennifer Thomas is chief nursing officer for Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. Thomas’ career spans more than 30 years serving in a variety of clinical and nursing roles. She said she takes pride in her ability to effectively combine an organization’s mission, vision, values, and objectives with her personal, professional goals, and work ethics.
UAFS holds an awards ceremony at the end of the fall and spring semesters for students completing the nursing program. A total of 30 students will be pinned at the ceremony, a symbolic tradition marking a student’s progression from pupil to nurse.
The event requires a ticket for admission, which is available from nursing students. For more information, contact Sherrie Luker, administrative specialist for the School of Nursing, at 479-788-7835 or sherrie.luker@uafs.edu.
