Our highly acclaimed animation technology program gives you the fundamentals of strategic design and craftsmanship combined with the technical skills necessary to be successful in this highly competitive field.

The bachelor of science degree in animation technology (BSAT) prepares you to be a practitioner and manager of a wide variety of computer graphics-related jobs. It is designed for those who have completed an associated of applied science (AAS), or an associated of applied technology (AAT) in computer graphic technology, or 45 hours toward the degree, or those who have the permission of the dean of the college. 

Earning a BSAT degree provides you with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to enter the fast-paced and rewarding career field of digital design. Special effect artists and animators create two- and three-dimensional models, images that appear to move, and visual effects for television, movies, video games, and other forms of media. Potential employment industries include:

  • Video Game Design
According to the Bureau of Labor Statics, the annual median wage in 2020 ranged from $41,950 - $77,700.

This two-year degree delivers an experience with a range of computer-aided design (CAD) software packages and includes concentration options in Architectural, Mechanical, and Digital Design as well as a General option. 

 

Technical Certificates

Architectural
This two-semester program (31-hours) expands upon the Certificate of Proficiency and delivers more advanced architectural coursework. All hours earned with this credential transfer fully into UAFS’s A.A.S. program and leave you just 29-credit hours away from an associate degree.  

Digital Design
This two-semester program (30-hours) expands upon the Certificate of Proficiency and delivers more advanced design coursework including Photoshop and digital design and layout. All hours earned with this credential transfer fully into UAFS’s A.A.S. program and leave you just 30-credit hours away from an associate degree.

General
This two-semester program (30-hours) expands upon the Certificate of Proficiency and delivers more advanced coursework including technical visual communications and CAD Level II. All hours earned with this credential transfer fully into UAFS’s A.A.S. program and leave you just 30-credit hours away from an associate degree.

Mechanical
This two-semester program (31-hours) expands upon the Certificate of Proficiency and delivers more advanced mechanical coursework including machine drawing and engineering graphics. All hours earned with this credential transfer fully into UAFS’s A.A.S. program and leave you just 29-credit hours away from an associate degree.

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
