Business AwardThe Associate of Applied Science in general technology - automotive is designed to train entry level automotive technicians. Automotive technology students learn the skills needed to inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair automotive components and complex vehicle computer systems. Successful completion of the program can lead to certification by the National Institute for Automotive Services Excellence (ASE). The Automotive Technology program is certified by the ASE Education Foundation.

This degree brings with it valuable theories in maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of electronic and mechanical systems that are applicable in a variety of career fields that can include:

Program Learning Outcomes

Students who successfully complete the Automotive Technology associate program will be able to:

  • Understand theories in maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of electronic and mechanical systems that are applicable in a variety of career fields.
  • Perform engine performance diagnostics with testing equipment commonly used in the industry.  
  • Operate tools and equipment commonly used in the automotive industry including hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and lifting equipment.
