UAFS's Bachelor of Science in elementary education (grades K-6) program combines advanced theory with extensive hands-on public school experience to deliver a degree that ensures you are ready to lead your classroom upon graduation. UAFS's program is the only one in the state of Arkansas to offer Teacher Apprenticeships (paid teaching internships) and one of only two to incorporate Professional Development Schools into its curriculum. 

 

What can I do with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education?

Application Requirements

There is a separate application process for this program, and requirements for admission may change over time. Students must meet admission requirements current at the time of their final application for admission to the teacher education program.
The elementary education program is designed for students who have graduated in the top half of their high school class and have maintained a minimum 2.75 GPA during their first two years of college. Candidates must meet these criteria to be considered for admission into the program. 

 

Program Learning Outcomes

The goal of the Bachelor of Science in elementary education program is to deliver a baccalaureate program for the preparation of elementary teachers that provides:
  • Current Knowledge: Demonstrate content knowledge by completing the appropriate PRAXIS II content exam.
  • Learning & Learning: Demonstrate an appropriate response to diversity in the classroom by completing a diversity case study.
  • Instructional Planning and Practice: Successfully develop and implement an integrated unit of study.
  • Professional Responsibility: Successfully collaborate with colleagues, families, and community members which will be evaluated by an end-of-program portfolio presentation of an artifact.
