UAFS Wind Ensemble Takes Stage, Live in Concert

The Department of Music and Theatre will present the UAFS Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Alexandra Zacharella, this Tuesday, November 16, at 7:30 p.m. on stage at the ArcBest Performing Arts Center. This will be the ensemble’s first time to perform at the PAC since December 2019.

“The UAFS Wind Ensemble is on fire,” said Zacharella, UAFS Director of Bands. “These students have spent the past 20 months in smaller chamber ensembles due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and are excited to be performing all together again!”

The Wind Ensemble is comprised of close to 60 undergraduate students, both music majors and non-majors. Having earned an exemplary reputation throughout Arkansas and Oklahoma for outstanding and exciting performances, student members of this ensemble audition for placement and perform classical and modern wind ensemble repertoire for the UAFS and greater Fort Smith community, often collaborating with renowned conductors, composers, and guest artists.

The November 16 concert will feature works by Puccini, Holst, Ticheli, and Vaughan Williams, and marches by Fillmore and Karl L. King, along with many more composers. The concert is free and open to the public.
