UAFS Campus to Open Thursday, Jan 18
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will resume campus operations on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2024.
The University’s main campus location, the Center for Economic Development at the Bakery District, and the Little Lions Child Development Center will be open. We are awaiting a final decision by Fort Smith Public Schools about whether the Peak Innovation Center will open on Thursday.
Though we have worked diligently to clear sidewalks and parking lots, University Police reminds folks to allow plenty of extra time to travel to and from campus, leaving extra stopping distance between vehicles, and limiting distractions. Additionally, when entering buildings, keep in mind that your shoes may carry snowpack in with you, which may inhibit your traction. To mitigate slick conditions indoors, we will add extra rugs to as many entryways as possible and SSC will dry floors regularly but ask you to proceed with caution.
While campus will be fully operational and courses will resume, we do understand there may be some folks who live in particularly icy areas who may still have concerns about their safety. You must make the safest decision for yourself.
Employees who have questions about their work should contact their direct supervisors. Similarly, students who have concerns about their ability to travel to campus should contact their faculty as soon as possible.
As stated in yesterday’s email, to make up for the snow days earlier in the week, several deadlines have changed. New deadlines are as follows:
Tuesday Jan. 23 (Previously Friday, Jan. 19)
- Last day to drop full semester class for full refund.
- Schedule adjustment period.
- Drop date for students without a payment plan and balance over $500.
Monday Jan. 22 (Previously Thursday Jan. 18)
- Last day to drop an 8-week class for full refund.
Thank you for your patience, and I can’t wait to see you on campus tomorrow!
