Dear students and colleagues,

World Series: Daniel de Mondesert, a UAFS alumnus who played on the UAFS Lions baseball team, is Game Preparation Specialist and Spanish Translator for the Milwaukee Brewers, who play the Tampa Bay Rays in game one of the World Series tonight in Milwaukee.  Daniel previously served as a Brewers' bull pen catcher. Thank you, Professor Farreol Hansen, for encouraging me to share this alumni news with our campus!

Respiratory Therapy: Today, Dr. Ray Green, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, presented to the Arkansas Coordinating Board of Higher Education our request to begin an associate's degree in respiratory therapy. With approval received today, the last step to final approval will be from CoArc, the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. We anticipate this final approval in spring 2027 and our first cohort of 12 students will be recruited to begin the program in fall 2027. This 63-credit hour program is a fantastic option for individuals who are interested in shorter-term credentials as a pathway into health care.

I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend and take time to attend the Fort Smith Fall Festival downtown tomorrow!
