               Campus Update, October 10, 2025
Written By: Terisa Riley
Dear colleagues and students,

It is hard to believe that we are halfway through the fall 2025 semester. Congratulations
to those of you finishing 8-week classes and mid-terms today.

Academic Calendar: Last year, Faculty Senate, with the concurrence of the Student Government Association,
advocated to change the academic calendar to remove fall break and to cancel classes
for the entire week of Thanksgiving. That was approved, so we will not observe fall
break at UAFS. Although classes are cancelled on Monday-Wednesday of Thanksgiving
break, faculty will still be working on those days (remote).

Emergency Preparation: Thank you to Dr. Lee Krehbiel and Chief Ray Ottman for planning and facilitating
our annual tabletop exercise. This fall, we made the decision to concentrate on practicing
our responses in the event of a cybersecurity incident. We were grateful to have representatives
from Fort Smith Public Schools, ARE-ON, and the UA System Chief Information Security
Officer who participated. As a result of what I learned during the tabletop, I feel
very reassured that UAFS is prepared to respond quickly to any type of cybersecurity
                        threat.

Athletics: We have home volleyball games tonight at 6:00 p.m. and tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. Tonight,
we are encouraged to wear teal for ovarian cancer awareness and prevention.

Good luck to men's tennis and men's and women's cross country teams who all have competitions
                        this weekend!

Thanks to Dadrick, Brooks, Ben, and Ellie for coming to serenade employees in the
Fullerton Administration Building this afternoon. What a treat and a great way to
                        start the weekend!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

As always, I am so honored to serve as your chancellor.
