The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith will host its largest undergraduate recruitment event of the year, Den Day, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. Designed to give prospective students a firsthand look at life as a Lion, Den Day invites high school juniors, seniors, and transfer students to explore academic programs, tour facilities, connect with student organizations, and experience the UAFS campus community.
This fall’s event follows a record-breaking turnout in fall of 2024, with more than 600 prospective students and 200 guests attending.
The event offers an opportunity for future students to ask questions, learn about campus resources, and determine whether UAFS will be the right fit for their college journey.
Key activities include the Majors Mixer, the Afternoon Expo, facility and lab tours, and pop-up engagement stations. Each element of the day is designed to showcase the breadth of opportunities available at UAFS, from academic offerings to student life and support services, and introduce students to their future faculty, staff and classmates.
“This year, UAFS is excited to add a new activity to the program: Academic Sessions,” said Brooke Magallanes, associate vice chancellor for Enrollment and Director of Admissions. “Each student will meet with the academic departments to learn more about each program and its opportunities for research, internships, and careers. Following the Welcome Session, students will break out into smaller groups to learn more about their academic college, support services, and its unique community. UAFS has excellent faculty and programs of study, so students will leave Den Day feeling confident and connected with their major.”
According to university data, 90% of Den Day attendees reported feeling more excited about attending UAFS after the event.
