Campus Update, February 27, 2026

Written By: Terisa Riley

Dear colleagues and students,

There is an air of excitement at UAFS as we celebrate Homecoming 2026! I am grateful to everyone who is planning and participating in the events and activities, and I look forward to several more fun times tonight and tomorrow.

Homecoming: We opened the fun last night with women's and men's basketball games and a Criminal Justice Alumni Reunion. Today, tomorrow, and Sunday, UAFS Baseball is playing Pittsburg State University at Crowder Field.

Please join us tonight for Yell Like Hell at the Amphitheater at 5:30 p.m. to be followed by fun on the campus Green. We will have fireworks at the Belltower at 8:15 p.m. which is open to the community.

Tomorrow, I am honored to host UA System President Jay Silveria who is eager to meet our students, employees, alumni, and community members. We will begin the day celebrating our alumni at the Alumni Brunch. YOU are invited to our tailgate party at the Stubblefield Center parking lot from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with lots of fun games and delicious food.

Women's basketball will play at 1 p.m. and men's basketball at 3 p.m. Baseball also will be played at home beginning at 1 p.m.

My husband and I are thrilled to crown the 2026 Homecoming King and Queen at halftime of the men's basketball team. Good luck to all King and Queen candidates!

Microsoft Copilot: On Monday, March 2, the UA System will assign an optional Microsoft Copilot training to all employees through Workday Learning. Copilot Chat is available to all employees and students through Microsoft 365. This short training focuses on how to access Copilot and how to construct effective prompts. We anticipate employees may have questions about Copilot and the broader use of AI at the UA institutions. The assignment email includes a link to a feedback form, and responses will be shared with each campus CIO.

Pre-fiscal Session: Vice Chancellor Carey Tucker, Executive Vice Chancellor Blake Rickman, and Legislative Liaison/Chief of Staff Jennifer King will join me in Little Rock for Pre-fiscal Session budget hearings with the Arkansas Legislature. We look forward to representing the good work of our faculty and staff.

The UAFS men’s basketball team will play in the MIAA Conference Championships beginning on Friday, March 6. Please look for more information about that early next week.  Congratulations to Coach Gibson and the team!

Good luck to men's and women's tennis playing in Little Rock on Sunday!

Happy Homecoming, Lions!
