Inclement Weather Update: Wednesday, January 28
Written By: Terisa Riley
Dear colleagues and students,
I was incredibly hopeful that our campus would be ready to be opened for operation
tomorrow; however, after driving around the campus I realize that only 15-20% of our
sidewalks and parking areas have been cleared. Otherwise, these areas remain treacherous
and unmanageable for safe travel and for getting to and from work/classes. As a result,
UAFS campus and operations will remain closed on Thursday, January 29, including classes
at the Peak Innovation Center.
I know how frustrating this is to all of us because we are all ready to be back to
work and to school. Your safety remains my top priority, which is the reason for this
decision.
Our 24 hour lab in the Boreham Library and our dining hours will remain the same for
tomorrow as they have been for the past few days of inclement weather.
Our University Police Department remains dedicated to campus safety, and they will
help any of our students or employees who need support, including access to the Dave Stevens Lion Pride Pantry during this tough time.
Thank you to our employees in Plant Operations, HES, and Chartwells for continuing
to serve the campus during this inclement weather event.
I anticipate opening on Friday, January 30, and will ONLY send a message tomorrow
in the event that we need to remain closed on Friday. If you do not hear from me by
4:30 p.m. tomorrow you should expect that classes and work will happen as normal on
Friday.
Please stay safe and warm, Lions.
