Dear colleagues and students,
 
It is so hard to believe that this is our final day of classes of this semester. I wish all of you the best of luck as you study for your final exams, write your final papers, and complete your final projects for this semester.
 
Provost Search: This week, we hosted our first provost candidate, and I was so thrilled by the number of faculty, staff, and students who were involved in the interviews, meals, and presentation forum. We have three more candidates coming to campus over the next two weeks, and it is my goal to announce my selection the week of Memorial Day. Your feedback is important to this process, so I strongly encourage you to participate in the interviews and to fill out the feedback forms so I can gather as much information from you as possible.
 

Canvas Security Incident: You may have seen news reports this week about higher education institutions experiencing issues with Canvas, a learning management system used by many colleges and universities.

UAFS and the University of Arkansas System use Blackboard as our official learning management system, and our Instructional Technology department is not aware of any university courses using Canvas for institutional classes.

However, some members of our campus community may use Canvas for graduate programs, professional organizations, or continuing education. If so, those individuals should watch for direct communications from those organizations and follow any guidance provided. Based on Instructure’s update, this incident involved the Canvas platform itself and does not indicate that individual computers were compromised. As always, be cautious with unexpected emails or links, enable multifactor authentication where available, and practice strong computer security.

Graduating Seniors: Please don't forget to RSVP if you plan to attend the Senior Send-Off Party on Friday, May 15 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Digs at the Bakery District. 
 
Many thanks to all of the volunteers who worked at Midnight Breakfast last night. The theme was spectacular and the food was unique and delicious! Many thanks to RHA and to Chartwells for such a fun evening.
 
Congratulations to the UAFS Women's Golf Team who placed 8th at Regional Competition. What a fun year!! Good luck to the UAFS Men's Golf Team member playing at Regionals this weekend.
 
I hope all of you have a productive and restful weekend. (Get some sleep, stay hydrated, and hit those books!)
