A variety of musical genres will go to war when the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith’s annual Battle of the Bands competition will be held at 7 p.m. March 11 in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center.

Nine bands will compete in the event, which awards $200 for first place, $100 for second place and $75 for the audience’s favorite band. The event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Agency.

Stephanie London of Fort Smith, student activities event coordinator, said the competition’s variety makes it a show local music fans will not want to miss.

“The music will be different genres, and we have bands of all ages entered,” she said. “This is a great event for those that enjoy music or just want some free entertainment for the evening. You get to see nine local bands compete for the prize, all of which are very talented.”

Bands that will compete at Battle of the Bands are Denim and Pearl, Runaway Science, Cape Fear, Harvester, Siloam Springs, Hollow Valley Funk, Angel Flesh, Surreality and Holy Smokes!
