The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Symphonic Band -- made up of 49 UAFS students -- will present an evening of classic symphonic works on April 17, according to Dr. Alexandra Zacharella, director of bands at UAFS.

The 7:30 p.m. event at the Arkansas Best Corp. Performing Arts Center at the Fort Smith Convention Center is part of UAFS’s Season of Entertainment 33.

Zacharella, a New Jersey native who moved to Fort Smith in 2007, is an associate professor of low brass in the Music Department. She has bachelor’s degrees in trombone performance and music education from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford (Conn.) and a master’s degree in trombone performance from the University of Michigan’s School of Music.
