Dr. Glenda Ezell of Magazine, executive director of the School of Education at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, has been elected to serve as the chair of the Arkansas Association for Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE).

The association works closely with the Arkansas Department of Education and the Arkansas Department of Higher Education to review and discuss educational regulations and incorporate policies into different programs of study in educational entities in Arkansas. The council is made up of educational representatives from across the state.

As chair, Ezell will set the agenda for council meetings and determine the issues for the council to address to ensure the board is discussing relevant and appropriate issues. She will also act as the liaison between the Council of Deans within the AACTE and the Arkansas Department of Education.

She said she was honored to be elected to the role.

“I am both humbled and honored to be elected by my colleagues to serve in this leadership role,” Ezell said.

Ezell has served as executive director in the School of Education since 2014, having previously spent eight years at the University of the Ozarks. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of the Ozarks, and her Doctorate in Education from the University of Arkansas.
