Madison Hunt

A University of Arkansas – Fort Smith marketing student is spending her summer enjoying the national pastime through an internship in northwest Arkansas.

Madison Hunt of Hot Springs is serving as a game day intern for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in Springdale, where she is responsible for running promotional events before, during and after Naturals’ baseball games including karaoke and kid’s camps.

“We partner with our sponsors to create an enjoyable and engaging environment for our fans by running games, organizing events, and passing out prizes,” said Hunt, a Lake Hamilton High School graduate. “I love this internship because it has allowed me to get a glimpse of the fast-paced world of sports marketing and gain real world experience through working with sponsors and meeting their expectations.”

After speaking with marketing professors about future career plans, Hunt was referred to Ron Orick, director of career services at UAFS, who helped her find the internship in Springdale.

Hunt, who plans to pursue a career in sports marketing and hopes to one day work for the Kansas City Royals, said the internship is preparing her well for her future career.

“This internship allows me to get a backstage pass in the Royals organization and obtain real-life experience in marketing,” she said.

Originally a history major, Hunt found her way to marketing through the encouragement of advisers and peers.

“The College of Business at UAFS is accredited by the AACSB and has smaller classroom sizes than other schools,” she said. “That’s why I chose to continue my education in Fort Smith.”
