A lighting ceremony and a holiday concert will kick off holiday celebrations at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith as part of the university’s Season of Entertainment 37.

 

The UAFS holiday lighting ceremony will take place Nov. 20, followed by the Season’s Greetings Concert Nov. 29. Both events are free and open to the public.

 

Nov. 20: Holiday Lighting Ceremony

The lighting ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Campus Green, where attendees can admire the UAFS campus garnished with holiday decorations.

 

Vocalists will perform live seasonal music, and hot chocolate will be served. The master of ceremonies will be 2017 Miss UAFS Logan Moore. 

 

After the ceremony, audience members can walk around campus and view the lighting.

 

Nov. 29: Season’s Greetings Concert

 

The Season’s Greetings Concert will be held at 7 p.m. at the ArcBest Corp. Performing Arts Center at the Fort Smith Convention Center, 55 S. 7th St., featuring student musicians performing holiday classics.

 

A lineup of classical holiday music will be performed by students from the university’s UAFS Chorale, Women’s Chorus, Jazz Catz, Opera and Musical Theatre workshop, Jazz Band, Brass Ensemble, and Symphonic Band. The performance will include a variety of secular and sacred holiday favorites, as well as a traditional singalong to close the show.

Both events are part of Season of Entertainment 37, a year-long lineup of entertainment sponsored by the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith featuring a variety of plays, musicals and symphonic performances.
