Many offices across the University of Arkansas Fort Smith campus are giving back during the holiday season – even the Parking Office.

Through Dec. 13, those receiving parking citations from the Parking Office at UAFS can have a ticket of $25 waived by donating 10 canned goods to the office.

All canned goods proceeds will be donated to the Antioch for Youth & Family. Citations must have been received during the fall semester. Donations can include canned fruits and vegetables, dry beans and rice.

Brooke Slaton, parking program coordinator, said the program was a dual effort to help out those in need and relieve financial strain for the UAFS campus community.

“Being able to give food to those in need this holiday season as well as being able to relieve some financial burdens from those at UAFS is a wonderful feeling,” Slaton said. “The holidays should be worry free and spent with loved ones, and the fact that UAFS is helping some accomplish that is heartwarming.”
