Theatre students at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith will have a chance to showcase their talents as actors, directors and designers during the annual One-Act Play Showcase held at 7:30 p.m. April 26-28 on the UAFS campus.

The performances will take place in the Breedlove Auditorium, located at 5120 Grand Ave., and is free and open to the public.

The events will feature several short student-led productions spanning different genres. While in the past each night featured different productions, this year will feature the same performances each night.

“Every year our student directors put together a short evening of bite-size theatre, and it’s great for a number of reasons,” said Theatre @ UAFS Director Bob Stevenson. “If you like your entertainment in shorter chunks, then this is perfect because each show is about 15 minutes long and the whole evening is just over an hour. Since the entire process is student driven, you get to see work that speaks strongly to college audiences, and has the energy and vitality that students bring to work that is completely their own.”

“Some of the shows are funny, some are dramatic, some will make you laugh and some will make you think,” he continued. “It’s a great ending to a great year for us. The hope is always that a student can graduate and do work on their own, without the support of the faculty, and this is where that process begins.”
