TEN Tenors

The TEN Tenors, one of Australia’s most famous musical groups, will generate “pure electricity and undeniable drama” during their performance at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Fort Smith Convention Center, located at 55 S. 7th St.

The performance is part of Season of Entertainment 38, a year-long lineup of entertainment sponsored by the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and featuring a variety of plays, musicals and symphonic performances. Tickets for the show are $33 or $35, depending on the seating tier.

The musical group will perform a repertoire of works from their latest album “Wish You Were Here,” which broke the top five in Billboard’s Classical Albums chart earlier this year. The album found success due to its material associated with iconic performers who have passed away, including Prince, David Bowie, Michael Hutchence, John Lennon, Amy Winehouse, Freddy Mercury, Roy Orbison and others.

Now enjoying their 21st year together, The TEN Tenors blend rock, pop and opera to form a unique sound praised by Variety as “truly incandescent.” The New York Times says their “unique mix of the traditional and unconventional offers a fresh and highly original take on the staid traditions of opera,” and the Los Angeles Times said the group generates “pure electricity and undeniable drama.”

The TEN Tenors have appeared on The Today Show, Oprah’s Australian Adventure and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, among others. More than 90 million people worldwide have attended their live performances, and they have shared the stage with Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart, Andrea Bocelli, Willie Nelson, Alanis Morissette and Cristina Aguilera.

Stacey Jones, associate vice chancellor for campus and community events, said he was excited to have the celebrated group return to the area.

“This is the group’s first time back in Fort Smith since 2007, when they performed to a sold-out crowd,” Jones said. “We look forward to having them back again.”
