Campus Update, May 23, 2025

Written By: Terisa Riley

Dear colleagues and students,

A few updates on things happening on campus:

Board of Trustees: The University of Arkansas Board of Trustees met on Wednesday and Thursday of this week at the Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas. At that meeting, the Trustees voted to adopt the FY26 budget we submitted and approved the tuition and fee increases we requested. We will update our tuition and fee website with the new rates no later than Tuesday of next week.

Employees: We have received notice that benefit increases are being imposed by the insurance companies that serve the UA System beginning on July 1. Our Cabinet has elected to absorb the additional charges for health care versus passing those along to the employees. It is likely that you will experience benefit increases beginning January 1, 2026, but you will have opportunities to choose your selections during open enrollment in November.

With the approval of our FY26 budget beginning July 1, we included a 2% cost of living increase for all employees. On top of those salary increases many employees will receive market adjustments in the new fiscal year. Employees receiving the market adjustments will be notified through individual email messages from the Department of Human Resources in mid-June.

Athletics: Congratulations to our student athletes who worked hard to earn excellent grades this year. Thanks to our coaches and advisors for supporting and empowering our athletes to concentrate on their main objective of earning their degrees.

Staff Senate: Thank you for planning and implementing a fun and fantastic end of the year party. I am so sorry I had to miss it because I had to attend the Board of Trustees' meeting.

Memorial Day: As a reminder, the university will be closed on Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day. May you all have a wonderful, relaxing, and safe long weekend!

All my best always,
