Biography


Virginia Hudson teaches the flute studio and directs the Flute Choir. Members of her flute studio have been state, regional, and national winners in Music Teacher’s National Association and National Flute Association competitions and frequently earn spots in competitive summer masterclasses and orchestral institutes. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in music, magna cum laude, from Arkansas Tech University and a Master of Music in flute performance from the Longy School of Music.

She has played in masterclasses for such well-renowned flutists as Fenwick Smith, Jeffrey Khaner, Sandra Church, Tadeo Coelho, Gary Schocker, and Aralee Dorough and is an active performer in the region, playing piccolo and flute with the Fort Smith Symphony. While in Boston, she performed as assistant principal flute with the Lowell House Opera Orchestra at Harvard University and as a soloist and freelancer in the greater Boston area.

She is also a member of the UAFS Woodwind Faculty trio, which regularly tours the state performing chamber recitals for members of Arkansas school band programs, and frequently serves as an adjudicator for regional and state solo and ensemble assessments in Arkansas and Oklahoma and all-region and all-state competitions.
