After earning his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Jason Merritt entered active duty in the U.S. Army, serving in various roles including platoon leader, executive officer, production manager, and eventually company commander. Subsequently, he transitioned to The Home Depot, where he took on the responsibilities of a general manager. During his time in Roswell, New Mexico, an unexpected opportunity arose to become a high school principal and head cross-country coach. This experience led him to accept a position teaching electronics while establishing the cross-country team at UAFS in 2008. Currently he holds the position of senior electronics instructor while nearing completion of his Doctor of Psychology in organizational leadership and human psychology. He is in the process of defending his dissertation proposal and is scheduled to defend his dissertation in the fall of 2024.
