Biography


Dr. Brian Rice is an assistant professor of criminal justice. He served 18 years with the Fort Smith Police Department before earning his D.P.A in 2020 from Valdosta State University. He teaches courses related to criminal law, criminal investigations, management and supervision, ethics in law enforcement, and child maltreatment. Dr. Rice's research interests include police detection canines, law enforcement use of force, and police leadership. He received the 2006 Fort Smith Police Department Officer of the Year Award and the Judge Paul Wolfe Outstanding Young Law Enforcement Award in 2007.
