Dr. Dave Stevens is a highly skilled and experienced professional who has provided 17 years of service to the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. Dr. Stevens is proud to be a first-generation college student. His interest in student affairs and higher education developed during his undergraduate years when he served as the president of the Student Government Association and worked in the dean of students' office. In 2004,he earned his Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Arkansas Tech University and immediately began working on his master’s degree in college student personnel. During this time Dr. Stevens served as a graduate hall director and graduate assistant in campus activities and the Health and Wellness Center. In 2006 he graduated with his Master of Science in college student personnel from Arkansas Tech University.
Upon joining UAFS, Dr. Stevens served as the advisor for the Western Arkansas Technical Center program from 2006 to 2009 and then as their coordinator until 2012. He was then hired in March 2012 as the director of campus involvement and promoted to dean of students in 2015 after receiving his Doctor of Education in adult and human resource development education from the University of Arkansas. In 2019 the Student Government Association passed a resolution to rename the Lion Pride Food Pantry as the Dave Stevens Lion Pride Pantry in recognition of his contributions. Dr. Stevens was later promoted to associate vice chancellor for student affairs.
Dr. Stevens also has been serving as the advisor for the Student Government Association and the UAFS Cub Camp program since 2012.
