Dr. Laura Witherington has taught in university English and education departments since 1998. Her primary research field is 19th century American literature and popular culture. Her publications have explored Home Box Office series, intellectual labor, the extra-diegetic life of texts in film, Disney's use of Jane Austen's themes, and pedagogy for k-16 classrooms. She is currently researching West Point in popular 19th century narratives as well as Henry James's and Edith Wharton's use of New York urban landscapes.
