Summer Music Camps Return to UAFS
The UAFS Music and Theatre Department will offer two exciting and fun music camps this month for area students.
“We are excited that the camps are back,” said Alexandra Zacharella,” Director of Bands at the University of Fort Smith. “We offered our last music camp in 2019. It will be thrilling to have these young and talented music students on our campus making great music.”
The first band camp will offer a wind ensemble musical experience led by Zacharella and other accomplished members of the Music staff. It is open to students in grades six – 12 and will be held on campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 13-17.
Students from grades eight to 12 will attend the UAFS Jazz Band camp.
Zacharella described it as “an exciting musical emersion into jazz, Latin, pop, rock, and funk musical styles.”
Zacharella will lead the camp alongside outstanding UAFS faculty and local jazz artists. Jazz Band Camp also will feature the Don Bailey Jazz Workshop as part of the Shane Bailey Foundation.
“Each camp will culminate in a 6 p.m. Friday night concert. The event is free and open to the public,” Zacharella said.
For information about the camps, pricing, and registration, see uafs.edu and search for summer camps, or contact Zacharella at alex.zacharella@uafs.edu.
