Secure Your Spot for Meet the Firms

A longstanding University of Arkansas – Fort Smith tradition returns, offering business students a view of a possible future.

Meet the Firms, an annual fall career fair, is a recruiting and networking event for College of Business and Industry students majoring in accounting and finance. The event will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, in the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, Reynolds Room, and is hosted by the Babb Center for Career Services.

Assistant Professor of Accounting Dr. Randall Stone shared that historically, Meet the Firms turns the age-old adage ‘it’s not what you know, but who you know’ on its head. According to Stone, the event highlights what UAFS students have learned and shows where they might use it.

“Our goal as educators is for students to come to UAFS for an education that will prepare them to be career-ready when they graduate,” he said. “Meet the Firms is what I call a ‘triple-win.’ It’s a win for our students who will meet one-on-one with potential employers, companies seeking new talent and interest to hire alums, and our community when our students graduate with a job where they live.”

The primary goal of Meet the Firms is to open doors for students to have a job offer in hand one to two years before graduation. During the fall 2023 event, students can meet with more than a dozen regional and national companies, such as Tyson Foods, ArcBest, Deloitte, Landmark PLC, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
