The Center for Business and Professional Development at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith will offer a wide range of professional development opportunities over the summer.

Classes on the schedule include Microsoft Office 2013 for all skill levels, Project Management, an Introduction to PCs, and Marketing with Social Media.

In addition to the classes on their regular schedule, the CBPD offers customized training on a wide range of topics, from computer applications to industrial maintenance and electricity. To request training that isn’t included on the Summer schedule, contact the center at 479-788-7799 to suggest a class be added to the schedule or to find out more information about on-site, customized training.

 

Classes on the Summer 2015 schedule:

June 17: “Microsoft Word 2013 Basics,” 8 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, Business & Industrial Institute Building, room 115, $69. Class meets for one day only.

June 19-26: “Project Management,” 8 a.m.-noon, Fridays, Business & Industrial Institute Building, room 115, $129. Class meets two consecutive Fridays.

June 24: “Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 Basics,” 8 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, Business & Industrial Institute Building, room 115, $69. Class meets for one day only.

July 1: “Microsoft Excel 2013 Basics,” 8 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, Business & Industrial Institute Building, room 115, $69. Class meets for one day only.

July 10: “Marketing with Social Media,” 8 a.m.-noon, Friday, Business & Industrial Institute Building, room 115, $39. Class meets for one day only.

July 29: “Introduction to PCs”, 8 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, Business & Industrial Institute Building, room 115, $69. Class meets for one day only.

August 5-12: “Beginning Microsoft Excel 2013,” 8 a.m.-noon, Wednesdays, Business & Industrial Institute Building, room 115, $129.

August 26-Sept. 2: “Intermediate Microsoft Excel 2013,” 8 a.m.-noon, Wednesdays, Business & Industrial Institute Building, room 115, $129.

 

Instructors are Dr. Micki Voelkel of Van Buren and Jack Danciu of Fort Smith.

Danciu, who has taught for UAFS since 2001 and has more than 20 years of experience in the computer industry, teaches the “Microsoft Word 2013 Basics,” “Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 Basics,” “Microsoft Excel 2013 Basics,” “Introduction to PCs,” “Beginning Microsoft Excel 2013,” and “Intermediate Microsoft Excel 2013,” classes. Danciu is the owner of Danciu & Associates Computer Consulting. He has a bachelor’s degree with a double major in economics and management from Saint Joseph’s College - Calumet Campus in Indiana, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

Voelkel, an associate professor in the CBPD since 1999, teaches the “Project Management,” and “Marketing with Social Media” classes. Voelkel has extensive experience in the areas of leadership, communication, personal effectiveness and computer applications. She is a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist instructor and has a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and a master's degree and a doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

In addition to classes and workshops offered for professional development, the Center for Business and Professional Development at UAFS also provides regional businesses with customized training and consulting to meet company-specific requirements and on-site training to fit identified employee needs.
