Fundraising Policy

Preface

The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith supports fundraising activities that advance its mission, enhance educational opportunities, and strengthen community relationships. All fundraising efforts must be coordinated through the Advancement Office to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment with institutional priorities.

This policy establishes guidelines for fundraising activities conducted on behalf of the University.

Policy

  1. All fundraising activities must be approved in advance by the Advancement Office.
  2. No individual or department may solicit funds on behalf of the University without prior authorization.
  3. Fundraising efforts must align with the mission and strategic priorities of the University.
  4. All donations must be processed through the appropriate University channels.
  5. The University will ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  6. Donor intent must be honored in all fundraising and gift management activities.
  7. Fundraising communications must be accurate, transparent, and respectful.
  8. The University reserves the right to discontinue any fundraising activity that does not align with its policies or best interests.

Authorized Fundraising Activities

  • Annual giving campaigns
  • Major gift solicitations
  • Planned giving programs
  • Special events and campaigns
  • Corporate and foundation partnerships

Use of Funds

Funds raised must be used in accordance with donor intent and University policies. Any restrictions on the use of funds must be documented and approved.

Oversight and Compliance

The Advancement Office is responsible for oversight of all fundraising activities. Departments and individuals must adhere to University policies and procedures when engaging in fundraising efforts.

Failure to comply with this policy may result in suspension of fundraising privileges or other administrative action.
