201.4 - Government Relations & Official Statements Policy
1. Policy Statement
The Board of Trustees, through its policies and designees, is the only body with the authority to speak for the University on matters of public policy or public interest.
An employee should not, unless specifically authorized, attempt to speak as an agent of the University in conversations or correspondence, regardless of the forum, with members of:
- The Arkansas General Assembly
- Arkansas constitutional officers
- Members of Congress
2. Authorized Representatives
The following University officials are responsible for communicating with candidates, elected officials, their staff, and the media regarding legislation or programs that may affect the University:
- Board of Trustees
- President of the University
- Vice President for University Relations
- Chancellors or chief executive officers of each campus, division, or unit
- Designated representatives of the above
3. Employee Guidance
Employees who are interested in a particular matter and would like the University to consider a specific point of view should contact the appropriate official within the office of their Chancellor or chief executive officer.
