This 12-credit-hour program is ideal for individuals beginning their welding careers and offers a supportive, hands-on learning environment. Students build beginning and advanced MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding skills and essential training in print reading, safety, and fabrication techniques. Taught by experienced industry professionals, the curriculum focuses on real-world application to prepare students for high-demand careers in manufacturing, construction, and related fields.
Students who complete the Certificate of Proficiency in MIG welding can continue their training by pursuing the Technical Certificate in welding and the Associate of Applied Science in welding at UAFS. Each credential builds upon the last, allowing students to deepen their knowledge with more advanced coursework in structural welding, pipe welding, and fabrication.
