2024 Arkansas academy of science

Fort Smith, Arkansas will be host the 107^th annual meeting of the Arkansas Academy of Science (AAS) April 5-6, 2024, at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith (UAFS).

Since its founding in 1917, this is only the second time that Fort Smith has hosted an AAS meeting. The last AAS meeting in Fort Smith was in 1996 when UAFS was Westark College. During the 2024 AAS meeting, academic and industry scientists from across Arkansas and our region will visit UAFS to present research and learn how to continue to advance science in Arkansas.

The Arkansas Space Grant Consortium (ASGC) will be hosting its 2024 symposium and NASA EPSCR Conference jointly with the Arkansas Academy of Science.

AAS 2024 Keynote Speaker

Douglas Rhoads, University of Arkansas - Fayetteville

Dr. Douglas Rhoads is a university professor of biological sciences, affiliated faculty member in the Center of Excellence for Poultry Science, and director of the interdisciplinary graduate program in cell and molecular biology at the University of Arkansas (UA). His master's training was in genetics of human pathogenic yeasts, followed by Ph.D. and postdoctoral training in first hamster and then human molecular genetics.
