Proposal Preparation (Pre-Award)
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) offers vital support to assist principal investigators (PIs) in crafting, evaluating, and submitting compelling proposals for external funding. Explore the array of standard services outlined below, tailored to the specific nature of your proposal and potential sponsor.
- Address guidelines and requirements with the principal investigator.
- Facilitate the review of any contract requirements and negotiations.
- Assist in completing the required agency application and related administrative forms.
- Review budgets for accuracy.
- Ensure commitment letters are obtained for matching funds, services, or support including subcontract commitments (if required).
- Review proposals for compliance with university, state, federal, and agency guidelines.
- Document institutional compliance requirements.
- Ensure application and proposal packets are complete.
- Transmit the proposal package to the agency.
- Track the courier service to ensure timely delivery of the proposal at its destination (if applicable).
ORSP Requirements
Before submitting proposal packages or grant submissions to the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, PIs must first complete the following steps.
The ORSP recommends PIs allow AT LEAST 10 working days for the office to complete the review, approval, and submission process.
- Complete the UAFS Intent to Apply form before beginning a grant application.
- Provide a completed UAFS Grant Proposal Authorization to Submit form before submitting a proposal package. PIs should submit this form AT LEAST FIVE (5) days before any internal deadline.
- PIs should allow five (5) working days to review and submit proposals without special requirements.
- PIs should submit their final proposal applications AT LEAST TWO (2) working days before the agency deadline to ensure the funding agency correctly receives the application.
