Free membership for nonprofit organizations serving Fort Smith and the River Valley
The Center for Nonprofits at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith offers free organizational membership designed to strengthen nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and long-term sustainability.
Membership connects your organization to practical tools, national resources, professional learning opportunities, and regional visibility — all at no cost.
Membership applies to the nonprofit organization as a whole, allowing leadership teams, board members, and staff to utilize available benefits.
Organizational Eligibility
Membership is available to nonprofit organizations serving Fort Smith, the River Valley, and surrounding communities.
Organizations must:
- Have 501(c)(3) status
- Have a board with at least three (3) members, per state law
- Operate in and/or serve residents of Arkansas
- Be in good standing with the State of Arkansas and the IRS
Organizations of all sizes and missions are welcome, including those focused on education, health and human services, arts and culture, community development, and advocacy.

National-Level Resources
Member organizations are affiliated with the National Council of Nonprofits, providing access to credible guidance, policy updates, and best-practice tools used by nonprofits nationwide.
Member-Exclusive Learning and Events
Members receive invitations to nonprofit-focused workshops, networking events, and training sessions designed for executive leaders, board members, and staff teams.
Topics may include fundraising strategy, communications, governance, financial management, and organizational sustainability.
Visibility and Spotlight Opportunities
Member organizations may be featured in monthly spotlights on UAFS Center for Economic Development social media channels, increasing awareness of their mission and community impact.
Reduced Facility and Training Rates
Members are eligible for discounted rates for:
- meeting and training space at the UAFS Center for Nonprofits
- select Center for Business and Professional Development (CBPD) classes
These benefits allow organizations to invest in professional space and staff development while managing limited budgets.
Exclusive Mini-Grant Eligibility
Only member organizations are eligible to apply for UAFS Center for Nonprofits mini-grants.
Mini-grants support capacity building, program development, and strategic initiatives that strengthen community impact.
Application timelines and funding details are posted during active cycles.
No Cost to Join
Membership is provided at no cost to qualifying nonprofit organizations.
To activate membership benefits, organizations must complete a brief Member Services Agreement.
